Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 2, 2026

This privacy policy explains what Aito Ventures Pte. Ltd. (“we”, “us”) does with your information when you use the Detune iPhone app or visit getdetune.com (together, the “Services”). If you have a question, email privacy@getdetune.com.

The short version

  • Detune has no accounts. You never give us your name, email or password to use the app.
  • Your lessons, progress, streaks and settings are stored on your device.
  • The app sends anonymous usage analytics to PostHog, hosted in the EU, so we can see which lessons work and where people get stuck. This is tied to a random identifier for your installation, not to you.
  • Purchases go through Apple. To recognise a subscription we use RevenueCat, which receives an anonymous app identifier and your App Store transaction details, never your name or payment card.
  • We do not run advertising, we do not track you across other apps or websites, and this website loads no analytics or tracking scripts.
  • If you email us, we keep the email to answer you.

What the app stores on your device

The app keeps the following on your iPhone. The full data stays on your device; only the summary described under “Usage analytics” below leaves it.

  • Your learning progress: which lessons you completed, hearts, streaks, XP and level.
  • Your answers to the short onboarding quiz, which personalise your plan.
  • Settings such as your daily-reminder hour.
  • Synth patches you create.

If you delete the app, this data is deleted with it. It is included in your iPhone backups according to your iOS settings.

Usage analytics

To understand how Detune is used and to improve the lessons, the app sends usage events to PostHog (PostHog, Inc., USA). We use PostHog’s EU cloud, so this data is stored on servers in the European Union.

When you first open the app it generates a random identifier for your installation. This identifier is not your name, email, Apple ID or advertising identifier, and we cannot use it to work out who you are. The following is recorded against it:

  • What you do in the app: which lessons, tutorials and screens you open, whether you answer exercises correctly, when you complete or leave a lesson, streak and XP milestones, and what you do in the Studio (for example adding a track or an effect, but not the music you make).
  • Your answers to the onboarding quiz and the learning path you are on.
  • Paywall and subscription events: seeing the paywall, starting or cancelling a purchase, and whether a subscription or trial is active. Prices and product names are included; payment details never are.
  • Errors the app runs into, such as a failed purchase or a file that could not be imported.
  • Technical information: device model, iOS version, app version, language, time zone and screen size. PostHog derives an approximate location (country and city) from your IP address when it receives an event; the address itself is not kept as part of your profile.

We do not use this data for advertising, we do not sell it, and we do not combine it with data from other apps or websites. It is not used to track you in the sense of Apple’s App Tracking Transparency framework, so the app never asks for tracking permission.

PostHog processes this data on our behalf under a data-processing agreement. See PostHog’s privacy policy. Because PostHog, Inc. is a US company, its staff may in limited cases access data stored in the EU from the United States; those transfers are covered by the EU standard contractual clauses in our agreement with PostHog.

We keep analytics data for as long as it is useful for understanding how the app is used, and we delete it when it no longer is. If you would like the analytics data for your installation deleted, email privacy@getdetune.com. Deleting the app stops any further collection.

Subscriptions and purchases

Pro subscriptions are sold and billed by Apple through the App Store under Apple’s terms and privacy policy. We never see your payment card.

To check whether your subscription is active, the app uses RevenueCat (RevenueCat, Inc., USA). RevenueCat receives:

  • a random identifier the app generates for your installation,
  • your App Store transaction and subscription status (product, dates, renewal state),
  • basic device information such as iOS version, app version, locale and country.

RevenueCat processes this on our behalf to unlock Pro, to restore purchases on a new device, and to give us aggregate subscription statistics. See RevenueCat’s privacy policy. Subscription records are kept for as long as needed for accounting and tax obligations.

The app also tells PostHog whether your subscription or trial is active, under the same random installation identifier, so we can see how the paywall and trial are working. See “Usage analytics” above.

Notifications

If you turn on the daily reminder or the trial-ending reminder, the app schedules a local notification on your device. No notification data leaves your phone.

Support email

When you write to us, we receive your email address and whatever you include in the message. We use it only to reply and to improve the app, and we keep the correspondence for up to two years.

This website

getdetune.com is a static site served by Cloudflare. Cloudflare processes connection data such as your IP address to deliver the pages and protect against abuse, under Cloudflare’s privacy policy. The site sets no cookies and loads no third-party scripts.

Children

Detune is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, email us and we will delete it.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export personal information we hold, to object to or restrict its processing, and to complain to a data-protection authority. Because the app stores your learning data on your device and we hold very little about you, most requests are met by deleting the app. To have your analytics data deleted, or for anything else, email privacy@getdetune.com and we will respond within 30 days.

We are established in Singapore and handle personal data under the Personal Data Protection Act 2012. For users in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom, our legal basis for processing subscription data is performance of our contract with you; for usage analytics it is our legitimate interest in understanding and improving the app, balanced by the fact that the data is pseudonymous, stored in the EU and never used for advertising; and for support email it is our legitimate interest in answering you.

Changes

We will update this page when our practices change and adjust the date at the top. Material changes will be announced in the app.
